Fayette County Attorney's Traffic Safety Program

F.A.Q.

Frequently Asked Questions

Q: How do I register online for this program?
A: To register for this program, you must first enter the control number found on the bottom right-hand corner of your traffic citation or in the subject line of the letter that you received from the County Attorney. Once you enter the control number and click the start button, you will see information already entered from your citation. You must create a user name and pass-word, enter your email address, and answer pre-qualification questions at the bottom of the user registration page.

Q: Why am I returned to the front page of drivesafelouisville.com when I enter in my control number?
A:  Make sure you enter the correct control number and you have all letters capitalized before clicking the start button.

Q: Why do I get a message that says my code has expired when I enter it?
A: This usually happens when you have already registered using your control number and have created a user name and password for drivesafelouisville.com. If you haven’t created a user name and password and you still get a message that your registration code has expired, please call the Drive Safe Louisville Customer Service Center.

Q: If I’ve already registered, how do I log back into the site to take the traffic safety program?
A: To log back into drivesafelouisville.com, click on the “click here for existing users” tab that is located toward the bottom of the web page and above the blue start button.

Q: Why is it showing me as a status of unapproved?
A: The unapproved status means that the County Attorney’s Office has not reviewed your case and approved or denied you for the program. In order for an offender to participate in the Drive Safe Louisville program, the citation must have been received in Jefferson County.  For any other questions about your unapproved status, please call the Drive Safe Louisville Customer Service Center.

Q: How do I pay for the program?
A: All payments for the program are made on-line with a credit or debit card directly through the Drive Safe Louisville website. You can call the Drive Safe Louisville Customer Service for help if you have a problem getting the website to accept your payment.

Q: What type of test do you take with the Drive Safe Louisville traffic safety program?
A: Drive Safe Louisville’s traffic safety program consists of 96 portions. There are multiple choice, true and false questions, and videos. The range of topics include safe driving techniques, distracted driving, driving under the influence, and seatbelt usage.

Q: What happens after I finish the Drive Safe Louisville traffic safety program?
A: Once you have successfully completed the traffic safety program, the County Attorney’s Office will get an immediate electronic notification.  You are not required to be in court on your scheduled court date and your case will be on the court docket for a dismissal.  Once dismissed, your ticket will not show up on your driving record.
